Philips lighting fluorescent lamps caused 17 accidents, a $2 million fine “difficult to escape”

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission released a message on November 24 that Philips Lighting North America has accepted a $200,000 civil penalties because the company received a large number of consumer complaints about the fluorescent bulbs it produces. The situation has caused harm to consumers’ personal and property, but the company did not report to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission in accordance with US federal regulations. The company only hopes to solve the existing product quality problems through product design. This product quality problem caused 10 consumer scratches and 7 property damage accidents.

In addition to paying fines, Philips Lighting has committed to develop and implement compliance programs that strengthen internal management and process controls to ensure products comply with consumer product safety laws.
